Notes:
Users draw structures with a true 3-D molecular editor with an intuitive click-and-draw interface. Results are visualized in 3-D for increased understanding.
There is built-in support for a wide variety of jobs.
The most important feature is that no software is installed on the client PC’s. This tremendously increases accessibility! For example, students can now do computational chemistry homework problems in their dorm rooms.
WebMO appropriately distributes the computational burden. Job setup and result viewing are done on the client. Number crunching is done on the server.
WebMO is compatible with both Netscape and Microsoft Explorer. It runs on any unix machine.
And the best feature is once again price. For example, it is very straightforward to run WebMO and MOPAC on Linux, all of which are free.
