The dye laser consists of cells containing dye and a diffraction grating which allows for selectivity in the wavelength of light emitted. This laser is tunable from 330 nm to 1040 nm through the use of different dyes. In current experimentation, light from the dye laser is used to obtain vibronic spectra of small organic molecules such as acrolein and HFCO.
